‘A loser is not one who runs last in the race. It is the one who sits and watches, and has never tried to run’…
This comes from a letter your Mom wrote to you, Oscar. Never a truer word has been spoken. And it is something that I can live by every day.
I look at your family, especially Carl and Aimee every day in the gallery and I see a bond, a unity, that nothing can break! Aimee and Carl, you are the strongest in all of this, because you are the ones that is supporting him, holding him up when he feels like quieting.
My daughter of 10 had an opportunity to take a book from the school library and she came home with the book, Blade Runner. And I read the letter that you wrote to Oscar, Carl, and I was amazed at your admiration for your brother.
Oscar, every tear that you cry we cry with you. every bit of emotion that you feel, we feel with you. Your heart breaking sobs will remain with me long after all of this is over.
You are in our prayers every day. And in our thoughts. One day, when all of this is over and you look back, you might only see one row of footsteps. That is when Jesus carried you, the One that you have been holding onto in all of this time. He will never give up on you, PLEASE do not give up on HIM.
Do not give up on yourself, you are an amazing person.
I wish is that I could just hug you, to show you that I care. That was the subject line of my sisters e-mail to you. This is just an extension of her mail, to tell you that even though you do not know us, we are there with you, every step of the way. And that we would really love to give you a hug and tell you that everything will be ok.
And that no matter what, we believe in you.
Don’t let anyone ever break your soul. You have to stand on your own two feet and stand up for yourself. There are those that would give anything to see you fail, but you must never give them the satisfaction. Hold your head up high, smile and stand your own ground.
